Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
